Another new Jung Suwon-imal comes by

April 29, 2012

Spring time is the favorite time for a lot of Jung Suwon-imals!  They are busy with so many things – they never have a dull moment.  Even Salerna and her companions.

Isn’t she a beauty?  Oh, I know, a lot of people outright discriminate against snails, and if Salerna were to wander over to my garden blog, yes, she would be in danger of being permanently evicted.

But Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim gave me a new perspective on snails, and things in general.  During her lectures and Jung Suwon classes, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim often talks about a simple pen.

“When I write a love letter, or a beautiful note, this pen I am holding, is a useful tool.  .  But when I use it to stab someone, it becomes a weapon.  Is the pen good or bad?  The pen itself is a tool, and it depends on what it is used for!”

Another example is one of Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s young students.  He used to be in gangs and on a downhill roll into crime, drugs, and other things.  Once he was out of that environment, and training at Jung Suwon for a year or so, and having moved away from his previous home, he has done remarkably well and now has a job at a well known computer company and has turned into an outstanding citizen.

The same, in a way, holds true for Salerna, the snail.  In Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s eyes, Salerna is a great Jung Suwon-imal, as long as she is in her own environment and doesn’t come into the garden.

But once she trespasses from out there, in the wild, to Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s garden, she becomes a pest that needs to  be taken care of.

Incidentally, Salerna has countless relatives around the world, and here is a picture of a snail Jung Suwon workout in Holland!  See how they are lined up for forms in the back?  🙂

A rock star on the Jung Suwon-imal scene!

April 26, 2012

Today I would like to introduce to you a very special Jung Suwon-imal.  Although this one isn’t with us anymore, but watching us from Jung Suwon-imal heaven, she deserves to be written about! You see, Chun Sa, (meaning “Angel” in Korean) was Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s very special German Shepherd.  Because Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim has a really busy schedule, I get to take care of her special Jung Suwon-imals from time to time.  With Chun Sa, that was always easy – we bonded right away.

Whenever I did some laundry, at first, Chun Sa would sit down and watch intently.  It was as if she were trying to figure out what was going on here.  Then, one day, this very special and intelligent Jung Suwon-imal, brought a rock with her, and with a proud look, put it into the washer!  She looked at me triumphantly, tail wagging, as pleased with herself as can be.  I praised her accordingly, and with that, a ritual was established.

From then on, Chun Sa would always bring a rock and put it into the washer, every time I did laundry.  And every time I had to take it out and throw for her, only for her to retrieve it and put it back into the washer!

Want to see?

can you see the little rock?

Chun Sa, the fearless Jung Suwon-imal, even sticks her entire head into the washer!

Chun Sa’s unwavering determination to figure out the washer and participate in the process, reminded me of a quote from Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s book, “Seven Steps to Inner Power:”

“Unswerving determination is one of the most important factors in reaching your goal, in reaching any goal. Only you can make your determination work for you.  And if you use it, your determination will attract to you all the other factors needed for your success – the right associates, the right information, being in the right place at the right time, and so on.  Determine now to value determination!”

New introduction – Freddy the Frog, an accomplished Jung Suwon-imal singer

April 22, 2012

As Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim always teaches us, appearances can be deceiving.  I see this all the time in Jung Suwon class, when big people face smaller, timid appearing students.  But as as soon as they start sparring, soon the taller, bigger Jung Suwon student finds him/herself on the defensive, simply because they underestimated their opponent!

So when I heard this newcomer in the great outdoor Jung Suwon-imal DoJang (this time, it was in Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s garden) I thought he must be a really really huge big frog.  I expected him to be immense!  At least the size of my fist!

Here you can hear Freddy the Frog sing:

Freddy the frog sound

So I started to look for the source of this incredible sound.  I could not find anything.  I heard Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s  voice in my head “Use your awareness!  have an open mind!  Don’t pre-calculate!”

I took a few deep breaths, and then something jumped out from under the beautiful, almost ready to burst out with flowers, rose bushes near the big fountain.  I thought it was a big bug, but it turned out to be a tiny little frog.  Meet and welcome new Jung Suwon-imal, Freddy the Frog!

As a comparison, he is about the size of my big toe nail!  But he looks ready for action!

Epilogue for a dear friend, Angel the Owl

April 19, 2012

Today I got “the phone call.”  The very nice officer from the Fremont Animal Services called with the sad news, that our dear friend, Angel the great horned Owl, had to be put to sleep.  Appearantly, he had been injured several days before Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim found him, and he was slowly starving to death.  A raptor cannot eat unless he can fly – and with a wing as badly broken as his he could not catch anything.

I like to believe that Angel looked like this when he was at his best!

After receiving the sad news,  Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim said, ” Life is like that.  There are no guarantees. ”

“Owls live in the here and now, like all Jung Suwon warriors should, ” Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim continues, “The present moment is all there is!  Now is where reality is, and now is where the creative moment is.  ”

In her book, “Seven Steps to Inner Power,” Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim explains this further:

“Why is now the only creative moment?  When it was yesterday, you experienced it as now. When you experience tomorrow, it will be now.  At this moment, and every moment thereafter, it is now.  It is never tomorrow or yesterday. “

So let us enjoy and treasure every moment we have, and celebrate every living breath as if it was our last breath!  (as Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim always encourages us to do.)

And let us celebrate the great life that Angel the Owl had, and may he be hunting and flying free in the great hereafter!

While we are waiting to hear from Angel….

April 18, 2012

While we are patiently waiting for an update on Angel the owl – I got very good news from my sister in law from Florida.  A very new Jung Suwon-imal arrived – literally!

See Celine, the baby crane?  Turns out, Celeste, our local celebrity Jung Suwon-imal does have relatives, although some of them a bit far!

But, remember what Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim teaches about that?  Energy does not have any distance!  In her book, “The First Element,” Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim says,

“Nothing is stationary anywhere in this universe.  When physicists look at the tiniest pieces of matter, pieces tinier than atoms, and then pieces of those pieces, that which they see is in motion.  Everywhere in the universe, energy is moving.  Energy is interacting with energy, energy is changing energy.  And all this energy is woven into one fabric, and you are one with this energy!  It is present within you as your Silent Master.  You are, then, one with the universe!  You are connected to the galaxies, the sun, the fields of grass in Kentucky, and the mountains in the Himalayas in the sense that you share the energy that created those things.

You may ask: If I am one with this universal fabric of energy, why do I not feel the snow on the mountain slopes in Tibet?  Why do I not smell the flowers in Holland?  It is a matter of awareness only.  The time may come when you have expanded your awareness enough to choose to do so.. and you will do so.”

Of course, Jung Suwon-imals don’t read, but as Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim tells us, they are so much more tuned into Ki energy, that the concepts she teaches us are already naturally inside them.

More on Angel, the Owl

April 14, 2012

I wish I could give you updates on our Jung suwon-imal Angel the Owl.  But all we know so far, is that he has a great chance of pulling through and eventually being released.

But, here is something you might want to see – the video of how Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim helped Jung Suwon-imal Angel the Owl:

Once again, please do not try this yourself.  Should you ever find an injured Jung suwon-imal owl, please just only make sure he/she is safe, and call the wildlife services in your area.

Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim was able to work with Angel the Owl only through Ki energy.

So let’s send angel all or best wishes for a speedy recovery, so he can come home soon!

An Angel came to visit – real story of an Owl

April 8, 2012

This is by far the most amazing thing I have ever seen!

Owls are pretty common where my Martial Arts teacher, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim lives.  In fact, you can hear them every night, and sometimes you see them sitting on top of the house, or swooshing down to catch their prey.  And although they have been “cutsiefied” by the toy industry, they are full on birds of prey, very skilled hunters with few, if any, natural enemies.

On April 6th, so just a couple of days ago, I happened to be with Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim in her garden.  She told me to get my video camera, and get it fast!  Then she slowly pointed towards the back of the garden.  This is what I saw:

Can you see the owl?  Angel, as Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim named him, is sitting on the angel statue’s head.

Here is a zoomed in view:

As you can see, Angel has a broken wing.  Not only is it highly unusual to see an owl in broad daylight- but Angel was sitting in plain view as well!  I think that Angel purposely came to this exact spot – knowing that Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim would see him and help him! It was as if he came here to get help!

What happened next is most amazing!  If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe it myself!

Note:  what follows next – DO NOT TRY THIS YOURSELF!

But Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim, while I was calling wildlife animal services, gently approached Angel, who had meanwhile fluttered away next to a tree:

Angel sat still.  No sign of hostility or fear at all.  Just looking peaceful.  And although of course Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim is fully aware of the dangers of dealing with wild birds of prey, she demonstrated pure Ki energy here.  And yes, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim was wearing gloves.  I saw the talons – they were huge in proportion to Angel’s body, almost the size of my fist.  I saw the razorsharp, long “claws”, and I saw his sharp beak close up.  Definitely a powerful array of weapons!  Yet he did not show any signs of wanting to use them.

Here is what happened next:

Very gently, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim put the broken wing in its place.

Here is a close up of Angel while Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim was treating him:

Then, when the wing was back in its proper place, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim scooped him up and carefully carried him to a place where he could stay until Animal Wildlife services came.

A very nice officer from Animal Services came and took Angel to the “Owl Emergency room.”  Once he is all healed, they will bring him back to his home, where he will be able to, once again, be the mighty hunter he was born to be!

This was one of Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim’s most amazing Ki energy demonstration.  Through Ki energy, the universal language, Angel the Owl felt that he was safe, and was relaxed and peaceful during the entire time!

Once again – please do not try this yourself.  Please let trained experts handle birds of prey, or any wildlife, for that matter!
