Majestic Blue Heron

May 3, 2017

Dr. Tae Yun Kim loves all wildlife, and on her estate lives a magnificent Blue heron.  These beautiful birds really live what Dr. Tae Yun Kim is teaching.  She tells people at her lectures and her studio, that we have so much to learn from nature.  To us, the concept of body and mind as one seems so difficult.  To animals, there is no other way – they have it programmed into them.  There never is any separation.

The blue heron knows that when it is hungry, it is time to hunt and get food.  It isn’t worried about any what if I don’t find food.  What if my feathers aren’t arranged right.  All it knows is that it is hungry and therefore it must find food.  When it has young ones, they know they have to take care of their young.  They must protect them and feed them.

We as humans are capable of so much more, and yet often fall so short of what we could be.  So let’s not waste any time, Dr. Tae Yun Kim reminds us.  Let’s move forward and achieve our future memories!

DeeDee the dove expresses gratitude

April 8, 2017

Here is DeeDee, when I saw her last.  She was just a couple of months old, and ready to become independent.  She is a California mourning dove, and the sweetest bird I ever knew.

Dr. Tae Yun Kim‘s home in California was a great place for little birds to grow up in.  Here is a picture of DeeDee when she was just a tiny hatchling:

Dr. Tae Yun Kim loves animals of all kinds, and is especially fond of birds, and makes sure they have a safe haven on her estate.

Birdie kiss

Momma Dottie is watching out and knows that this huge thing with the camera in hand is just me and is no harm to her or her young ones.  In fact she knows I protect them from the ever-present crows.

Here is DeeDee almost grown up, already Dottie had put her out of the nest but still kept coming back to make sure she’s safe and to feed her.

Dr. Tae Yun Kim has always reminded me how beautiful animals are and how they express their gratitude.

The day DeeDee was ready to leave for good, she hung around the house closer than usual.  She made sure she saw me, and I saw her.  And this was not imagination running wild.  DeeDee really did wait until I saw her.  She looked at me for a long time and let me come real close.  I almost heard her tell me that she was happy for her beautiful childhood her and so grateful we watched over her and kept chasing the crows away.

Dee Dee good bye

Finally, as all birds must do, she knew it was time to start her very own life journey, and she flew away.  She circled a few times very close, and then disappeared into the big oak trees.

Yes, I had a tear or two….as always when a baby leaves.

The Way of the Warrior

Flatheaded ducks

Many of the Martial Arts forms come from watching animals, Dr. Tae Yun Kim explains.  Whole systems were based on specific animals, the crane for example, or tigers.  But Dr. Kim also emphasizes that we can learn from all animals.  Look at these ducks for example. I thought immediately about a page in one of her books, Seven Steps to Inner Power:

“You will see that the Way of the Warrior is to realize who you are in Truth and to demonstrate it.  You will see that the work of the warrior is joyous, that your perseverance is rewarded with increasing faith in your Silent Master and in love for yourself and others, and that your victory is assured.  Because you already are one with your Silent Master.”

When I look at these animals, whether on the water or in the air, how they are true to themselves, and to what they are, and they demonstrate it.

So much to learn from them!

More about the great world of Hawks

Hawk at SG ranch

So I maybe a bit pre-occupied with raptors.  But it isn’t like I go out and try to stalk them.  I just “see” them and they seem to “see” me.  Energy, Dr. Tae Yun Kim says, whatever happens in your life, it’s because of your energy, what you attract through your own energy at that time.

Hawk flying away

In Dr. Kim’s book, “The Silent Master” she talks about this on page 154:

“Those times that I have enjoyed the mountain and blue sky of the wilderness I have always had the same thought: There is no artist who can create this kind of beauty.  No photograph, no painting can match this  The more I stand there and just appreciate, the more I feel as though I am making my own music.  I am telling you to wake up and see how much there is to appreciate.  So many people are victims of negative thinking and dark emotions because they don’t realize how much there is to see and feel that can create natural, effortless, positive feelings.”

So let’s appreciate these beautiful beings, and enjoy their beauty whenever you can see them.  I like to think that somehow they are spiritual guides, just like the American Indians used to say, and like Dr. Kim is still saying.

Beautiful Hawks

I have said it many times – I absolutely love and adore birds of prey.  They are so majestic and I am very drawn to them.  If I don’t see one for a day I really miss them. This morning, this beauty seemed to be waiting for me, at the tree he/she always is sitting on.

Halona, the hawk, reminded me of what Dr. Tae Yun Kim has said many times – it’s about how we view our lives.

“The higher your view, the wider and more thorough your view.  Think of viewing something from the ground,  from the top of the tree, from a helicopter ( or mid-flight of a hawk) and finally from a satellite.  Which gives you the widest view?  The most information about the environment?  The Satellite of course!”

Just think about it – if Halona had to try find food while on the ground – she wouldn’t ever see any and would starve.  The higher she goes up in the sky, the more she’ll see and the better the chance to spot her dinner.

And just like that, Dr Tae Yun Kim says, we need to let our spiritual being go way up like the satellite, and view our lives from that view!  Only then can we truly make decisions and gain insight into our lives!

Earl the Bald Eagle shows how to enjoy Food

January 12, 2017

Earl, the Bald Eagle, really shows us how to live.  Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim has been emphasizing about the importance of food and to treat it with the respect it deserves.

“God gave us all things to eat,” Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim says, “food is a direct gift from Him.  It is our responsibility to treat all food well, keep kitchens clean and not waste a thing.”

Earl the bald Eagle understands this, and is demonstrating his attitude in the video here.

“When you prepare and eat food, you are harnessing the energy in the vegetables, grains, or meats to interact with your energy, thereby creating more energy.  Naturally you always want to eat the best quality foods you can.  But what about when you are traveling and don’t have any healthy options?  Because food exists in consciousness, it has the energy of consciousness.  When you eat you bring this energy into your body. If you are in a situation where junk food is your only choice, remember that your positive attitude helps you get the best energy you can out of the food until a better selection is available.” (The Silent Master page 72)

So let’s be like Earl and know what to eat and how to respect the food we have!

Regal Eagles and what we can learn from them

Even though one of Dr. Tae Yun Kim‘s estates is very close to a major city, still all manner of birds of prey come and hunt there, some even build their nests.

To Dr. Tae Yun Kim, this is no surprise.  “They can feel the energy,” she says, “they know they are safe here. They know there is plenty of food for them.”

Eagles and other birds of prey are also perfect examples of a concept Dr. Tae Yun Kim teaches – the importance of listening to our Silent Master.

“How can you hear your Silent Master this very moment if your mind is occupied with yesterday’s resentment?  Or today’s panic?  Or tomorrow’s anticipation?  Or with fear, worry and anger?

The present moment is all there is.  Why? When it was yesterday, you experienced it as now.  When you experience tomorrow, it will be now.  AT this moment and every moment thereafter, it is now.  It is never tomorrow or yesterday.  True awareness means being right where you are, right now, without fear or worry or obsession about the future or past.  When you manage to do that, a wonderful thing happens,  You find yourself knowing what to do – now, ten minutes from now, or tomorrow.  As a result, you consistently find yourself in the right place at the right time.”

And isn’t that what Eagles do, without having to think about it?  Let’s be like Eagles and live life to the fullest, in the here and now!
